abkriegen (to get a share), bekommen (to receive)

From 'ab-' (off) and 'haben' (to have). Literally 'to have off'.

Think of 'having' ('haben') a piece 'off' ('ab-') a whole cake. Or 'having' your hat 'off' ('ab-') your head.
