Synonyms: der, welcher (in relative clauses)

A compound of 'der' (the) + 'jen-' (from 'jener', meaning 'that') + '-ig' (adjective suffix). Literally 'the that-one'.

Use it to point to a specific person/thing that is further described in a following relative clause. It's more emphatic than just using 'der'.
