Derived from 'Feuer' (fire). All meanings relate to fire: the 'fire' of a gun, the metaphorical 'fire' of a dismissal, or feeding a literal fire.

The English word 'fire' has the exact same double meaning (dismissal and shooting). Just remember to add the third meaning of stoking a fire.
