Adjektiv

hochgerechnet

extrapolated, projected, calculated

Hochgerechnet auf das ganze Jahr, ist das ein großer Verlust.

Extrapolated over the whole year, that is a big loss.

Die Zahlen sind nur hochgerechnet, nicht exakt.

((sth.)) ((auf+4)) hochrechnen to extrapolate sth. to sth. The costs were extrapolated to the whole year.

geschätzt (estimated), prognostiziert (prognosticated)

From 'hoch' (high) + 'gerechnet' (calculated). It literally means 'calculated up', as in scaling up a small sample to a larger whole.

Think of 'calculating' a result 'up' to a 'high' total from a smaller piece of data, like projecting election results from early returns.
