Synonyms: zugeben, gestehen (to admit); wegräumen (to put away)

From 'ein-' (in) and 'räumen' (to clear, make space). Literally 'to clear into', which means putting things away. Figuratively, 'making space' in your mind for a fact means 'to admit' it.

Think of 'clearing' ('räumen') a space to put something 'in' ('ein-') a cupboard. This is 'to put away'.
