From 'um-' (around, indicating change) and 'Zug' (pull, train, procession). 'Pulling to a new place' means a move, while a 'procession pulling around' is a parade.

Think of 'pulling' (Zug) your furniture 'around' (um) to a new place for a 'move'. Or a parade 'pulling' (Zug) along 'around' (um) the city.
