obschon + subordinate clause (verb at the end) although Obschon es regnete, ging er spazieren.

Synonyms: obwohl, obgleich; Antonyms: weil (because), da (since)

Composed of 'ob' (if, whether) and 'schon' (already, even). It conveys the sense of 'even if'.

Think of it as a more formal or literary version of 'obwohl'. Imagine saying 'OBviously, SCHON (even) though this is true, the opposite happened.'
